Currently for sale at Seven Sisters Gallery in Black Mountain, NC. 

This Miller Holler Kiln Original Acrylic Painting is of an actual wood burning, salt glaze, kiln set in the foothills of NC. Pottery is made in this kiln. North Carolina pottery made in wood fire kilns is an art form that is slowly disappearing. There are not many of these types of kilns around any more.  They cost quite a bit to build (about the price of a low-end new car), and the salt fumes in the firing of the kiln tend to eat away at the fire bricks. Meaning, these kilns don't last too long before they need to be rebuilt. This kiln, owned by Harry Seng, is a particularly nice looking one. I had to paint it.

The Miller Holler Kiln in Morganton, NC, is a wood fire, salt glaze, pottery kiln. As shown, the kiln is ready to be loaded with pottery and fired up. Firing this kiln (keeping it stoked with wood) is usually an all day job. The finished results of the pottery are well worth the effort.
